Papallacta and the Cayambe Coca National Park – an amazing weekend

Last weekend I and some friends of mine made an amazing trip to Papallacta and the Cayambe Coca National Park.

Hiking in the Cayambe Cocoa National Park

We started on Saturday afternoon by car and drove to an incredibly beautiful landscape from Quito to Papallacta. It takes about two hours from Quito and we drove along green mountains with great waterfalls and across deep canyons. It was amazing!

We arrived at six o´clock in Papallacta and after we checked in the hostel directly besides the hot springs of Papallacta, we took our first bath in the hot springs of the hostel. It was so relaxing!

On Sunday we woke up early in the morning, because before we went to the Thermal Springs of Papallacta we would like to go hiking in the Cayambe Coca National Park. Besides the entrance of the Thermal Springs the way goes up to the entrance of the Cayambe Coca National Park. As we reached the entrance to the National Park we had to pay two Dollars each and then we went hiking. The way goes along different seas and through a really, really beautiful landscape. The way was very hilly and because of the height it was exhausting but as we reached the first sea we had a great view! Our hike in the Cayambe Coca National Park lasts about three hours in all and we reached the third sea before we turned an went back to the entrance. We had great weather and a nice walk!

After we came back we went into the Thermal Springs to relax the rest of the day and had lunch in the restaurant. The entrance for the Thermal Springs is seven Dollars per person. In the restaurant you can eat several little things. We had potatoes filled with cheese, salad and avocado. It tastes so good and we have to pay less than five dollars!

The next two hours we were relaxing in the different swimming pools of the Thermal springs of Papallacta. It was delightful!

At five o´clock we went back to Quito. I had a great weekend in Papallacta and in the Cayambe Coca National Park!

Although we had the luck to go by car, it is also possible to go by bus from Quito to Papallacta.
